Tom Poppey

President.  Thomas Poppey has been a supporter of the Scituate Animal Shelter for many years and joined the Board of Directors in 2013. Tom is now serving his first Term as President and also serves as Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee. Tom is employed at Brown Brothers Harriman as Senior Vice President and resides in Cohasset with his wife, Elissa, and their two dogs and four cats, including Hemingway and Stewie, both Shelter alums. Lisey Good

Lisey Good

Vice President. Lisey Good has been an active dog care volunteer for the Shelter since 2013 and joined the Board in 2015, where she serves as Vice President and Chair of the Communications and Marketing Committee.  Her animal volunteer experience includes work with dogs, chimps, monkeys, seals and sea lions, and a recent stint manning a canine and feline behavior hotline for the Animal Rescue League of Boston.  Lisey and her husband live with two rescue dogs in Cohasset.  Lisey can be reached at
Karen McKenna

Treasurer. Karen McKenna has been volunteering at the Shelter since 2002 as a dog and cat care provider, adoption counselor and customer care representative.  She is currently serving as Treasurer of the Board and as a member of the Board’s Finance and Audit Committee and the Fundraising Committee. Karen was born and raised in Scituate and currently resides there with 4 cats and 2 dogs, all adopted from the Shelter. Karen can be reached or through the Shelter.

Debra Squires-Lee

Secretary, Debra Squires-Lee is a litigation partner at the law firm of Sherin and Lodgen in Boston and joined the Board of Directors in 2014, where she serves as a member of our Human Resources and Nominating Committee.  Debra has always been active in the community including serving on the Board of Trustees of Old Ship Church and Wilder Memorial Nursery School, and she is also a member of the Massachusetts Board of Bar Examiners. Debra lives in Hingham with her husband, three children, 8-yr old Beagle, and four cats including three fostered and adopted from the Shelter – Sherlock Holmes, Samwise Gamgee, and Silica Stone.
Karen Borgelt

Karen Borgelt is a graduate of Wilkes College and earned her Masters Degree in Social Work at Our Lady of the Lake University. She worked as an Oncology Social Worker in Philadelphia where she met her husband, Bruce.  On the Shelter Board, Karen is the Chair of the Fundraising Committee and also serves on our Gala Committee.  In addition to the Shelter animals, she nurtures her two dogs, Page and Peyton and, and her cat, Velvet, a former resident of the Shelter.

Diane St. Ours

Diane St. Ours began volunteering with the Scituate Animal Shelter in 1996 as a dog walker, a commitment she held for 17 years until recently hanging up her sneakers to concentrate on community relations.  Now Diane serves as our Community and Public Relations Director.    She has served on several committees and is currently the Chair of our Public Relations Committee, as head of our Community Relations and Outreach Programs and maintains our Facebook page. She is the mother of two grown daughters and a grandmother of 6, so she particularly loves sharing the Shelter life experience with children’s groups, and hosts group tours for scout groups, retirement homes and other organizations on a regular basis.


Bob Ryan

Bob Ryan

Bob Ryan is an author and sportswriter who worked for the Boston Globe for over 40 years.  He retired from the Globe in 2012 and became interested in the Shelter through his wife’s volunteer efforts there, so he joined the Board of Directors in 2015.  Bob is the current national Board Chairman of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association, and is past president of the United States Basketball Writers Association and the NBA Writers Association.  On the Shelter Board, Bob serves on our Communications and Marketing Committee, where his writing experience is invaluable.

David Honeycutt

David Honeycutt with a degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management, David worked for many years for Hilton and Hyatt Hotels before making a career change in 1995 to open Charles David Salon with partner Charles Dudley.  Charles as Color Director and David as General Manager together have grown Charles David Salons & Spas now employing over 100 beauty professionals with 3 locations including Hanover, Plymouth and The Pinehills.  While best known for beautiful hair coloring and styling, community involvement and “giving back” to many charities across the South Shore has always been the heart and passion of Charles David. 


Diane Esslinger


Diane Esslinger spent over 35 years in law firm administration as executive director and director of human resources at two Boston law firms.  Now retired, she is pursuing her interests in travel, gardening, birding and other outdoor activities. A resident of Cohasset, she is active with North River Arts Society, Massachusetts Audubon and The Trustees.  She first volunteered at the Scituate Animal Shelter in the mid-90s and has been a long-time supporter of the organization.  Over the years she has been adopted by a number of both sheltered and feral kitties, each of whom has added much to her quality of life.

Beth Begin has been volunteering at Scituate Animal Shelter since September of 2009 as a dog walker and adoption counselor. Beth is a member of the Canine Committee, Canine Training Team and Communication Committee. She is the mother of two grown sons and grandmother to a beautiful little girl. Beth is a long time resident of Norwell sharing her home and life will two dogs.
